Heat pumps, cooling, ventilation, solar preparation and electrical capacity cannot be treated as equipment choices made at the end. Their routes, loads and service zones must be coordinated while changes are still buildable.

Start with the building, not the catalogue

Confirm the envelope concept, glazing and shading, airtightness targets, orientation, occupancy pattern and coastal or continental exposure before sizing equipment. A heat pump or cooling system cannot compensate efficiently for unresolved solar gains, thermal bridges or uncontrolled air leakage.

Freeze plant space and distribution routes

Reserve practical positions for indoor and outdoor units, hot-water storage, manifolds, ventilation equipment, drains, condensate, ducts and maintenance access. Coordinate penetrations and vertical routes with the structural design before concrete and masonry close the easy paths.

Coordinate electrical capacity and future loads

List induction cooking, heat pump, cooling, hot-water production, EV charging, pool equipment and workshop loads. The electrical design should define capacity, circuits, surge protection, earthing and realistic spare routes instead of relying on extension work after finishes.

Make the roof and facade solar-ready

If photovoltaic panels are planned now or later, check usable roof area, orientation, shading, fixing zones, cable route, inverter position and safe access. Solar preparation is not only an empty conduit: roof details, waterproofing and structural interfaces must remain coordinated.

Create a commissioning and handover record

Before closing walls, photograph hidden routes and label circuits, valves and manifolds. At handover, collect test results, equipment settings, warranties and maintenance instructions. Final equipment sizing and statutory documentation should be confirmed by the authorized designers and installers responsible for the project.
