Renovating property in Croatia as a foreign owner
Remote owners need a structured process: a clear scope, written decisions, photo reports, procurement timelines and realistic control of changes.
Before the works start
Define the goal of the property, collect plans and photos, agree the approval flow and clarify the budget and timelines. Appoint one responsible local partner or project manager instead of coordinating trades from abroad.
During the works
Ask for phase reviews, confirm changes before execution, keep materials and equipment in one list, and do not wait for the end to control details. Hidden phases — installations, waterproofing — must be photographed before layers close.
Handover and after
Check functionality, record open items, store documentation and invoices, and agree maintenance if needed. English communication is available for all BLDR.HR projects; an initial visit helps but is not always necessary.
